Day 15
Truth
Phil 4:8 – Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are noble, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report…meditate on these things.
Father, I want to spend this last week of prayer and fasting meditating on your counsel. I read in the Scriptures that one of the names given to Jesus was Counselor (Isa. 9:6). I am need of a Counselor. My closest friends are in need of a Counselor. My entire spiritual circle is in need of a Counselor. I pray for a spirit of counsel to come upon us all at this time and in this moment. I want to dwell upon things that are true, those things that meet Your standard of truth. Help me to separate truth from feelings. Help me to separate truth from preferences. Help me to embrace truth, even if it does not lead to the most desired outcome. Above all I am asking You to be the final arbiter of truth in my life.
Prayerful thoughts for meditation –
· Lord, I want to align myself on the side of truth. I want to lay aside my agenda, anything that would hinder me from hearing Your voice. I am convinced that if I get my heart freed from any self-serving motives then I will be on the side of truth. I am looking to cleanse anything from my spirit that will keep me from hearing what You have to say to us (John 18:37).
· Lord, when I cannot find my way in life I lift my eyes to You. You are the source of my help and my understanding. The path can become so obscured and confusing. Clear up the way before me (John 14:6)
· Lord, You promised that if I walked in the Spirit, that I would hear a word that would bring direction. showing me which way to go. Let me hear that voice in these times (Isa. 30;21).
Hymn – Trust And Obey
Day 16
Noble
Phil 4:8 – Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are noble, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report…meditate on these things.
Father, when I think of noble, I think of Abraham who behaved nobly in the matter of Lot. Abraham, though older than Lot and having seniority over Lot, allowed Lot to select his preference of places to settle. Abraham was stuck with what remained of the land for grazing and growing crops. Abraham put himself into Your hands knowing that his blessing and abundance came from Your care for him, not from being in the most advantageous place. I want to live this kind of life and uphold this kind of standard in my walk with You and among men. I ask You for the strength of character that I need at this time in my life and the life of my church.
Prayerful thoughts for meditation
· Lord, while the Berean believers were called noble, they were called more honorable than those of Thessalonica. It had to do with the way they received the Word of God. They searched the Scriptures to see in those things they were being taught were so. Lord, I too want this inquisitive spirit toward the things that I am hearing today. A spirit that searches the Word of God to uncover Your mind for us at this time (Acts 17:11)
· Lord, I read in the seed of the Word of God falls on different kinds of soil. Some seed fell by the wayside. Some seed fell upon rocky soil. And other seed fell on ground that was troubled by thorns and briars. But then some seed fell on good ground. That seed that fell on good ground was received with a “noble” heart. I know that soil can be made more fertile by what is put into it. I want to put good and fertile things into my heart that I may receive Your Word, like the Bereans, with a ready mind. Prepare me for what You want to say to me (Luke 8:15)
Chorus – Bless Thy Word Unto My Heart
